The 2011 season will be John's 25th and final as the play by play announcer for the Minnesota Twins. Before coming to Minnesota in 1987, he had worked as a broadcaster with both the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees. The Detroit native began his broadcasting career with the Spartanburg Phillies in 1965 after graduating from Indiana University. While at Indiana, John was a pitcher with the Hoosier baseball team. For his work with the Spartanburg Phillies, John was inducted into the South Atlantic League's Hall of Fame on June 19, 2001. And, on October 11, 2008 was inducted into the Museum of Broadcasting Hall of Fame. John worked for many seasons with the "Voice of the Twins", Herb Carneal. His enthusiastic call of the Twins' games since 1987 made him a broadcasting icon throughout the upper Midwest. Each year John's "Touch 'Em All" Golf Tournament raises thousands of dollars for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Minnesota Stroke Association and the Minnesota Twins Community Fund. In 1994, John starred as broadcaster "Wally Holland" in the movie "Little Big League."  John was inducted into the Twins Fantasy Camp Hall of Fame in January of 2012.
